Motivational Moment: Turning a Profit
scripture: Philemon 11
"Turning a profit" is the goal of most for-profit-businesses. Every decision is made based on the bottom line--is it profitable? The term can also be used when discussing relationships. In Paul’s letter to Philemon, he referenced a man named Onesimus—a new convert to Christianity—who in times past was unprofitable to Philemon. Paul met Onesimus in prison. Onesimus was a runaway slave who was of no use to anyone. Paul saw value in this man and invested his time, words, and love. It wasn’t long before Onesimus became a person of worth. Paul had turned a profit. Sometimes the people who inevitably contribute to our bottom line are people others shun and ignore everyday. Now it’s your turn to find someone that has no value to anyone else--the type of person that Jesus came to earth in search of. When you find that person, make it your goal to turn a profit. Invest your time, your words, and your love in someone this week.
I have great news! I will be posting Words of the Week to encourage you with your daily walk as you discern God's voice. A new page, Interpreting Dreams & Visions is under construction. However, let's start now by developing your own personal list of words to use as a key to understanding God's voice. Remember, keys give you "power and authority" to grant or deny access. WORD OF THE WEEK: STONE (Witness) scriptures: Joshua 4:7; 24:27. Acts 1:8; 1 Peter 2:5. The twelve stones used by the children of Israel were to preserve the mememory of God's miracles. Recalling past experiences with God's miraculous power will increase your faith to move forward. God told Joshua "You have not been this way before". God was leading him into new territories. The stones were a reminder to Joshua and the people around him of what God can do. The stones were a witness. Two things! First, your personal stones are a reminder of God's miraculous power. You won't fear what lies ahead if you are mindful of your past victories. Focus on them. The Reflective Power of God's deliverances will push you forward. Secondly, the stones are a teaching point for the people that will follow you. Others will believe in you when you share with them your personal stories of how God has blessed you. Wherever God is taking you will require the help of others to get there. Stay in the company of those who celebrate your success.
